Jewel Cave

Hi All,

My kids wanted me to post about one of our favorite places in the Black Hills. Jewel Cave.  This is a great place to visit especially on a warm afternoon. My family and I go here every time we are in the Black Hills. The cave is a nice 50 degrees or so all year round. Really nice on a warm June afternoon.

What is Jewel Cave?  Jewel Cave is a cave 15 minutes from Custer KOA and is one of the largest caves known in the world. I could go into all the great info about the Cave however the National Park Service has already done the work. To see what Jewel Cave has to offer visit: http://www.nps.gov/jeca/

My daughter really enjoyed the tour. It is kinda crazy to realize that you are 300 feet or so below the surface of the earth during the tour. The best part by far is when the lights are turned out an all you see is…darkness.  We tried real hard to see however without any light all we saw was…our imagination. Don’t worry…99% of the tour is well lit and sports fantastic geology.  Holly bat cave bat man.

If you are coming to the Black Hills certainly Jewel Cave is a must see.

Oil price update

Oil PricesHi All, As I previously mentioned I have a passion for markets and commodities. It is good to see that the world is not ending.  The price of oil has risen from a low of 30 bucks a few months ago to 50 bucks. The interesting thing is fuel prices have hung in there at being around 2.30 for diesel prices.  There is more to pump prices than the price of oil.  It is looking really good for trips this summer. My wife and kids are looking to travel across the US from SoCal to the East Coast this June and then will be visiting and working the campground in July and August. Look for the cute kids on the jumping pillow and going to the local lakes every day.  Of course my son Logan loves to dig trenches with the backhoe….keep your rigs out of range!  Oh..I must admit spending the spring and summer in the black hills is a joy. Lots to do and we’ll help you have a memorable visit to the black hills.  There is really something about the fourth of July in the Black Hills. Makes one proud to be an American and a RV owner! Looking forward to seeing you this summer.
